June 9 - Wishing Scroll


Wishing involves hope, something we could all use a bit more of at times. Using one of the oldest known book structures, you will create a hanging scroll containing wishes, be they for you personally, for a loved one, or for the world at large. Your wishes may be expressed in images or words using stitching, rubberstamping, line drawings, or collage. Some of the papers provided have been made by instructor Alice Armstrong using a process called eco printing. While the process is not possible in class, Alice will provide you complete and detailed instructions for how to do eco printing at home. Instruction in basic rubberstamping, stippling, and other endlessly useful techniques will also be provided.
