Verre Églomisé is a French term which translates as “tinsel painting.” Often used by Venetian mirror makers, and considered a popular Victorian lady’s parlor craft, Verre Églomisé is, put most simply, painting and gilding on the back of a piece of glass. In this class we will focus on creating gilded botanical plates in the Art Nouveau style. Skills covered will include gold leafing, mirroring, and painting techniques. No drawing skills are required. This will be a fun class for the novice, and seasoned crafters will find it a unique addition to their breadth of skills.
