August 6 - Publishing a Children's Book

125.00

This class offers a unique opportunity to learn from an experienced author the ins and outs of publishing a children’s book. Karima Cammell is the owner of Castle in the Air and founder of the award-winning publishing company Dromedary Press. During her years in the illustration and printing field she has authored five books, illustrated two more, and been privately hired by aspiring authors to help them create their own. Children’s books are particularly close to her heart because of the power they have to engage a child’s imagination and expand their world. Karima loves to help others create their own children’s books by sharing her experiences—both the good ones as well as the missteps. A storyline and a delightful character are only the beginning. She will give you concrete advice on everything else you need to know: how to organize and manage your project, what format and structure to consider, layout considerations, dealing with illustrations, your options for printing, the different stages in production, promoting your work, the economics of it all, and the resources available to you. You’ll leave ready to take the next step in realizing your dream. If you’re thinking of illustrating your book yourself, consider taking Karima’s Two-Day Watercolor Workshop on July 28–29.
