March 16 - Pointed Pen Uncial

March 16 - Pointed Pen Uncial

145.00

Found in hand-lettered pieces in European manuscripts dating from the 4th century CE, Uncial script was originally written with a broad nib. Michael Kecseg, a renowned calligrapher known for his inventiveness in creating variations with the pointed pen, has designed a pointed-pen version of the Uncial hand. In this all-day workshop, Bill Kemp will teach you this 26-letter alphabet (it has no upper- or lowercase). This class is an excellent choice for the novice who has no pointed pen experience, and is also a lovely hand to learn for use in the context of Celtic knot design—an art taught in the workshop the next day, March 17, at Castle in the Air.
