April 29 - Introduction to Paper Cutting

115.00

The art of paper cutting, which originated in ancient China, is practiced in many cultures around the world. The oldest surviving piece is from 6th-century China. Perhaps it is such a popular folk art because all that it requires is time, patience, and a steady hand. Ulla will show you some tricks for making paper cutting easier, creating your own designs, and combining your paper cuts with punched paper pieces. She will also show you how to mount your artwork onto covered canvas boards for a finished look. This extremely enjoyable art is also known as Scherenschnitte—literally “scissor cuts” in German.
