June 24 - Mapmaking for Calligraphers

150.00

Calligraphers who are commissioned to do wedding suites will occasionally be asked to produce a map. Maps can also be created for genealogy projects, portfolio pieces, and as borders for certificates. A good map is both functional and beautiful. It can be tricky figuring out which elements should be included and how best to portray them. After studying maps at the European Lettering Institute in Belgium in 2016, teacher J.P. Panter was very excited to learn more. She continued her studies back home in California and, like a returning explorer, she is ready to share her discoveries with you. J.P. will guide you through the basics of “cartography for calligraphers” and will help you complete a map by the end of class. This day-long workshop will make use of pointed-pen calligraphy, but no previous experience is necessary.
