July 1 - Shellwork Frame

July 1 - Shellwork Frame

125.00

Create a beautiful picture frame that looks as though you rescued it from a forgotten sea trunk in the attic. John will help you make the frame from chipboard and then show you how to decorate it with seashells, mica, Dresden paper trim, the tiniest of starfish, and other sea-themed ephemera. The frame is reminiscent of the shellwork sailors did on long whaling voyages. The techniques taught are quite adaptable, and once you learn them you’ll be able to craft other treasures. One student from an earlier class promptly went home and decorated the frame for a large mirror.
