Jan 21-Apr 1 - Collage Workshop Series

This class has already begun and is not accepting new students.

Throughout this six-session series you will explore a broad variety of media including beeswax, encaustic, gel medium, modeling paste, found materials, oil and chalk pastels, acrylic glazes, and more. Alice has been working with mixed-media collage for over forty years, incorporating an increasing variety into her personal art and developing unique methods for using and combining elements such as alcohol ink with beeswax and encaustic medium, images printed on organza, and rusty-looking patinas. Each class meeting will focus on a particular group of techniques and materials, collaging onto cradled birch board, stretched canvas, mulberry papers, and other unusual substrates. You’ll leave class with a thorough understanding of how to handle that day’s materials. This series is an excellent choice for novices as well as seasoned artists, art journalists, and those who prefer to make one-of-a-kind pieces.
