June 2 - Pajaki

June 2 - Pajaki

135.00

John’s pajaki class continues to be very popular, and he is again offering to teach this charming paper craft. This unusual project comes from an area of Poland known for its strong tradition of colorful paper art. A pajaki is a decorative hanging framework lavishly adorned with paper flowers and other shapes. Some call it a chandelier (though it’s smaller and not lit) and others call it a type of mobile. Whatever the designation, pajaki is an Old-World folk art that has been reinterpreted and transformed into a popular piece of décor. Traditional pajaki are a riot of color, but there are lovely examples in neutrals and pastels. Imagine an all-white one at a wedding. It would make a fitting decoration there, because pajaki traditionally symbolize a wish for health and happiness. John will bring pre-cut paper shapes to class so that you can focus on constructing and decorating your pajaki to match your own vision, be it full of bright colors or more subdued.
