Uncial is an alphabet that first appeared in Greek and Latin writing over 1500 years ago. Graceful and expansive, it tends to appear as a lighter and more relaxed version of its Gothic cousin, Blackletter. Majuscule alphabets such as Uncial consist purely of capital letters, which makes them a good choice for the novice as there are only 26 letter forms to learn, as opposed to 52 in alphabets that contain both upper- and lowercase letters. Students will go home with a broad-edged pen as well as a paper kit to allow for further practice.
