March 4 - Acrylic Painting with Palette Knives

March 4 - Acrylic Painting with Palette Knives

135.00

This workshop is designed to encourage you to explore and develop a personal approach to painting using acrylic paints and an array of palette knives. You can freely push, slather, slice, swirl, trowel, layer, or smear paint on a tabletop canvas, creating uniquely personal paintings—whether abstract or impressionistic, glossy smooth or roughly textured, whether paint is thinned down to achieve the consistency of ethereal watercolor or thickened to a luxurious impasto, whether detailing with the finest of lines or using a sweeping motion to chart a wide swath. The possibilities are infinite. Having a background in theatrical set painting and a wide-ranging body of work painted with palette knives, teaching artist Lenny Pinna will lay the foundation for this day of painting by demonstrating an array of techniques using palette knives. He will then nurture each participant individually toward expressing their personal aesthetic, opening the door to the unlimited potential of painting with palette knives. Although acrylic paint tends to dry quickly, using a certain viscosity of paint, or layering various amounts of paint, may require additional drying time post-class, from an hour to overnight. Castle in the Air will hold any drying works until you are able to retrieve them. Preparing for the possibility of paint splattering, you are advised to wear appropriate attire, aprons, or hand coverings.
